ABOUT NICK

Nick is the 4th generation of the Milroy family to call Northern Wisconsin home. After graduating from Superior Senior High School, Nick enlisted in the United States Navy where he deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Southern Watch. Upon return, he continued his service in the Naval Reserves while pursuing his biology degree at the University of Wisconsin–Superior. After graduating from college, Nick taught biology and worked as a scientist for state, federal, tribal, and private organizations.

Nick has received numerous awards and commendations, both in the military and as a scientist. His research has been published in the scientific literature and he presented his work to the national conference of the American Fisheries Society.

Prior to running for the legislature, Nick served two terms on the Superior City Council. He is one of only a handful of veterans and the only scientist to serve in the Wisconsin State Assembly.

An active community volunteer, Nick is passionate about youth development. He is a dedicated hockey, football, and baseball coach. He served on the Lake Superior Binational Forum, St. Louis River Watershed TMDL Partnership, and is a certified hunter safety instructor.

In his free time, Nick is passionate about hunting and fishing and sharing outdoor experiences with friends and family. In the legislature, Nick helped found and is a co-chair of the first ever Wisconsin Chapter of the National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses. The Wisconsin Wildlife Federation, Wisconsin's largest sportsmen organization, recognized Nick as their legislator of the year for his work on sportsmen's issues.

Nick is married to his high school sweetheart, Julie, who is a dedicated public school teacher of over 20 years. Together they are raising three children at their home on a gravel road in rural Douglas County.
